Tour Shea’s Favorite Vignette and This Home’s Spaces of Utility

05 February –

Some houses have many, but all houses have at least one vignette that Shea and the design team fall in love with. In The Oaks Project, that moment is a simple moment of reprieve leading into the home’s laundry room and mudroom.

The laundry and mudroom area of The Oaks Project is one of the design team’s favorites. I love “the beautiful floor-length window with a pedestal in front of it,” Shea notes. Laundry room design and mudroom design can be tricky since it is typically smaller spaces, and they’re used for mainly utility reasons versus meant to be showstoppers in the home. While the clients behind The Oaks Project do, in fact, use these spaces for utilitarian purposes, they wanted it to be a design-forward moment. The even chose the hallway connecting these spaces to display one of their favorite pieces of art, a collection of wall hangings that depict birds in flight. While this space holds laundry room design ideas in spades, it’s also one of inspiration. We hope this custom mudroom design gets you thinking about ways you can implement similar concepts in your own home.

“The mudroom incorporates one of my favorite vignettes in the home, which is the beautiful floor-length window with a pedestal in front of it.”
