Ten-Year Anniversary | Counting down the pivotal design projects that built Studio McGee's portfolio.
Through launches and collaborations, our foundation has always been the design firm. That’s how Studio McGee started, and the work Shea and the design team do there continues to be the muse for all of our other ventures, including the exclusive products Shea designs for McGee & Co. Here, explore ten pivotal projects that have shaped us.
In celebration of ten years of Studio McGee, we’re rounding up ten of our most pivotal projects. To be clear, it’s impossible to pick favorites, so we didn’t. These are just a few that helped shape us, whether it’s because of its location, the homeowners behind it, or one single room that was a portfolio first. Browse, shop, and get inspired below.

01
The Houston Estate
A big Architectural Digest feature.
Though Studio McGee has appeared in countless design publications, this was a pivotal feature for us, and the first to so predominantly highlight our clients. This is the home of former MLB catcher Jason Castro, his wife Maris, and their three children. Browse the Architectural Digest article here.

02
SM Ranch House
A project that still fits the Studio McGee aesthetic.
Even though it was designed years ago, this project is highlighted in Shea’s recent book, The Art of Home. “It still feels organic, textural, and luxurious,” she notes.

03
Cabo Dos Vistas
Our first international project.
Shea and the design team crossed borders for our firm’s first international project. Watch the project’s webisode reveal here.

05
Park City Contemporary
One of our more modern designs.
Park City Contemporary is still one of our more modern projects, with an aesthetic that helped us define how Shea and the design team skirt the line between modern and traditional.

06
Studio McGee Spec Home
The one and only spec home.
In 2023 Studio McGee took on their first spec home near Park City, Utah, just minutes from the slopes. Styled completely in McGee & Co., go behind the scenes of our catalogue shoot day in the webisode here.

07
Modern Mountain Home
One of the first Studio McGee webisodes.
As Shea points out in our ten-year anniversary webisode, Modern Mountain Home was one of the first projects where Shea and the design team were starting from the plan phase, in addition to it being one of our first produced webisodes.

08
Water’s Edge
Oversized everything.
In terms of square footage, Water’s Edge is one of our largest projects to date. The home featured a dining table with seating for 19, two bunk rooms, a sports court, and a theatre room. Its total square footage was more than 20,000.

09
Mountainside Retreat
A repeat client we love.
One of the best things to watch over the years is when clients come back to Studio McGee when they move or purchase a vacation home. Mountainside Retreat is the perfect example of that as Shea and the design team are currently designing a forthcoming vacation home for this same family.

10
Hilltop Estate
A wine room to remember.
We love this project for many reasons but one of the big ones is the home’s stunning wine room. It was one of our first and still one of our largest.

“We wanted it to feel dark and moody like an old lounge. I love that it’s so rich in texture. The collected feel in here is one-of-a-kind. You walk in and it immediately feels different than any other space in the home.”
